Medium Softlighter

A medium Photek Softlighter was used for this image.  This modifier has produced a relatively indistinct shadow with a gradual shadow transition.  Not surprisingly, the light quality falls somewhere between that of a softbox and an umbrella.  The Softlighter is essentially a satin umbrella with a diffusion cover.  Although the Softlighter is not a substitute for a softbox,  it's a versatile and easily-assembled  lighting tool for the location  portraitist.
